What is Counselling and How Can it Help Me?
Counselling gives you a space to talk about your problems and identify how you are feeling, in a safe, confidential and friendly environment.
Counselling should always be a space for you to feel free to be open and honest without worrying about judgement.
My role as a counsellor is to listen to you with empathy; meaning I will put myself in your shoes, giving you the upmost respect, kindness and compassion.
I will also at times ask you specialist open questions to help you come unstuck and move forward with your problem.
My aim as a counsellor is also to help you to become more Self Compassionate and Self Accepting. Self Acceptance and Self Compassion are the key ingredients to forming Self Love.
I am a fully qualified and registered with The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP). This is the leading standards authority for practising therapists in the United Kingdom.
I have extensive experience of using different types of therapy with my clients including Person Centred, TA, CBT, NLP, Mindfulness and Elements of Hypnosis. Mastering many types of therapy enables me to offer you counselling that suits your individual requirements.
I can help you to find and release any feelings or thoughts of ‘stuckness’ and/or conflicting thoughts which might be holding you back.
I offer a warm, professional, non-judgemental and confidential service for my clients, we can work through your issue together as a team.
Counselling with me can be a way of investing in your future because part of how I work looks to provide you with helpful coping strategies you can use for life long after you have finished therapy.
Frequently Asked Questions About Counselling
Your first appointment starts with you discussing why you have decided you want to try therapy and also helps me to assess if my therapy is suited to work with your problem. This session also gives you the opportunity to see how I work and decide if you would like to work with me more. If you decide we are not the right fit or I determine my therapy is not suited to your issue, I will do anything I can to help match you to a more suitable therapy or connect you to a relevant organisation.

I will never tell you what to do. I will help you to work out what is best for you by using specialist questioning techniques which will guide you to get focused and specific around your problem/s.
I can however provide you with many helpful coping strategies you can use for life long after you have finished therapy.
Yes, my job is to help you find out what is wrong and find a way forward. I work to help you to see what you might not know about yourself and uncover any lingering emotional build ups from your past.
Talking Therapies offered
TA is a teaching therapy which looks at your unique personality and how you communicate with others. When working with TA, we will look together at what you may have copied from people around you when you were growing up (such as Parents/ Caregivers/ Grandparents, Babysitters, Teachers + Siblings). We will also explore how you thought, felt and reacted to life situations when you were a child and how that might be playing out at times now.
Transactional analysis helps you to better understand how you relate to others, whether that is with family, friends, at home, or in your love life. TA is also an excellent therapy to help you gain awareness and understanding in how to break free from unhelpful patterns and cycles in your life.
CBT theory is based on the idea events themselves do not upset us rather its the meaning we attach to them which cause us problems.
When we use the same thoughts and patterns of behaviour without awareness we can fail to see alternative viewpoints. CBT therapy utilises working in the ‘Here and Now’,
CBT will help you to find new ways to challenge your negative thoughts and help you find new and clearer ways of thinking about your situation, all of which will help you to feel better very quickly.
Person Centred therapy specifically caters for working with Grief, Loss and Bereavement.
Person Centred Therapy is a talking therapy that focuses on helping you find your answers to your issues using your own unique inner resources to help you reach your full potential.
